10 December 2021 | Update from Department of Resources

Please see below the latest information from the Department of Resources.

This bulletin provides resources companies and peak bodies in the resources sector with the latest information on COVID-19 and how it relates to the sector.

Queensland border restrictions update

From 1am AEST Monday 13 December 2021, Border Restriction Direction (No. 56) will be in effect, with Queensland border restrictions easing further following Queensland achieving 80% fully vaccinated.

People will be considered fully vaccinated from one week after their second dose.

Entering Queensland

Anyone entering Queensland from anywhere in Australia must hold a current Queensland entry pass.

The type of entry pass and requirements for entry to Queensland will depend on where workers are traveling from, where they have been in the last 14 days, and vaccination status.

For resources workers who are fully vaccinated and have not been in a hotspot in the last 14 days, they can enter Queensland with no restrictions and no quarantine requirements.

Resources workers who are fully vaccinated and have been in a COVID-19 hotspot (known as a ‘hotspot traveller’) in the past 14 days they can only enter Queensland if they’ve had a COVID-19 PCR test within 3 days of arriving in Queensland and receive a negative result. If they meet this criterion, they will not have to quarantine.

Additionally, they must undertake another test on day five after arriving in Queensland, or as close as practical (before or after) to the fifth day.

There are requirements for workers entering Queensland from other situations, and the Queensland entry pass application process will guide them through what these requirements are.

Arriving from overseas

A worker arriving in Queensland from overseas, to work, is required to follow quarantine requirements as outlined in the Quarantine for International Arrivals Direction (No. 16).

Mine-Site Canteens, Mess halls

Please note that dine-in canteens and mess halls on mine sites are not subject to the Public Health and Social Measures, linked to vaccination status direction, that come into effect on 17 December. This means any person can enter these facilities regardless of vaccination status. These facilities must operate according to a COVID Safe Checklist.

Get vaccinated

Vaccination is our best protection against COVID-19.

Resources workers can book a vaccination appointment or find their nearest general practice, pharmacy or walk-in vaccination centre at www.health.qld.gov.au/vaccinebooking.
