24 March | QLD border restrictions / MCA and APPEA national guidelines

QRC is continuing to clarify how the restrictions on entry into Queensland from 12:01am, Thursday, 26 March will be applied. We expect this clarification very soon.

As you would recall, National Cabinet had already determined work in mines as an “essential activity” and Minister Lynham told our teleconference last week that the industry was an “essential service”.

On this basis and the sector’s vital role, QRC has urged the Government to include mining and petroleum industry as “essential” and thereby provide “exemptions” for staff to continue to deliver the essential service.

The Government has been very constructive and QRC has reiterated the industry’s hard work to be part of the effort to not only slow the spread of COVID-19, but to keep Queenslanders working.

The Queensland protocols are being developed in conjunction with the national guidelines developed by MCA and APPEA (attached below).
