29 June 2021 | COVID-19 Update

The Queensland Government has today announced a 3 day lockdown and has released a further Resources update at 6:20 pm tonight, 29th June 2021. The update is listed below.

From 6pm tonight, Tuesday 29 June, until 6pm Friday 2 July a three-day lockdown is in place to help stop the spread of highly contagious COVID-19 strains.

Resources workers in the following local government areas (LGAs) are able to travel to work including in non-lockdown areas and are required to follow all lockdown rules.  This includes when they are outside the 14 locked down LGAs. This means that masks must be worn at all times unless it is not safe to do so and workers must isolate in their accommodation when not at work. They should also eat in in their room but can collect meals from dining facilities provided they wear a mask while doing so.

The locked down LGAs are

  • Brisbane
  • Moreton Bay
  • Ipswich
  • Redlands
  • Logan
  • Gold Coast
  • Sunshine Coast
  • Noosa
  • Scenic Rim
  • Lockyer Valley
  • Somerset
  • Townsville City (including Magnetic Island)
  • Palm Island Aboriginal Shire

This means resources workers will only be able to leave their residence/accommodation for limited permitted purposes such as:

  • obtaining essential goods or services, including healthcare (including vaccinations)
  • exercise
  • attending essential work or childcare
  • assisting vulnerable persons

Workers currently outside these 14 LGAs who have visited these areas between 1am and 6pm today, 26th June are required to wear a mask. The previous 14 days retrospective requirement has been rescinded.

Companies are asked to use the Qld COVID app on all premises to allow better contact tracing and to ask for travel intention details where possible when workers leave the site at the end of their swing shift. This is to assist in contact tracing if the worker chooses not to return home after his/her shift.

To further keep members informed about the evolving COVID-19 situation, a QRC COVID-19 Working Group teleconference meeting was held today at 4.00pm.
